Drop-In Homework Help Program
CHAMPS is an after-school program that the Learning Disabilities Association of Niagara Region (LDANR) offers in partnership with United Way Niagara and The RAFT. The CHAMPS program specifically runs as an instructional component to United Way’s After School Matters program. The After School Matters program was created to support children during the after-school hours (3:00 – 6:00 pm) when children are most vulnerable.
The program takes place in Niagara Regional Housing cooperative neighbourhoods throughout the region. The children are able to drop in and out of the program as they wish, and are provided with an after-school snack. Many of the children who attend these programs come from low socio-economic status families and benefit greatly from the extra support that this program offers. The CHAMPS program specifically intends to provide homework assistance and an extra learning experience for the children.
