S.L.A.M. is back, thanks to The Branscombe Family Foundation!

The LDANR is proud to announce that we are the successful recipients of a 3-year funding grant from The Branscombe Family Foundation!

This summer, our S.L.A.M. (Sunshine, Learning, Achievement, and More!) program will be back and better than ever, thanks to the funding we received from The Branscombe Family Foundation!

What is S.L.A.M.? S.L.A.M. is a full-day summer learning camp for students aged 6-11 with diagnosed or suspected learning disabilities. At S.L.A.M., participants spend half the day involved in literacy-related games and activities, and the other half of the day involved in social skills and recreational activities. Click here for more information.

How will S.L.A.M. be changing? This summer, the structure of S.L.A.M. will remain the same, but we will be expanding the number of program spots! Instead of 14 spots per site, there will now be 20 spots per site. These spots will be split between two age groups, with one group for ages 6-8 years, and another group for ages 9-11. Adult to child ratios will still remain low (at minimum 1 adult : 5 children).

Where will S.L.A.M. operate? S.L.A.M. will be offered at 3 locations again this summer:

St. Catharines, July 8 – August 23 (6 weeks – excluding the week of August 5)

Niagara Falls, July 8 – 26 (3 weeks)

Welland, July 29 – August 23 (3 weeks – excluding the week of August 5)

*Exact locations are to be determined. Please keep an eye out for more announcements.

How much will it cost? For LDANR members, S.L.A.M. will cost $175.00 per week. For non-LDANR members, S.L.A.M. will cost $225.00 per week. Subsidy and payment plans will be available closer to the program dates.

When can I apply? Spring and Summer program applications open Monday, March 25 at 6:00am! Please ensure that you have the required supporting documents on hand when applying. For more information please click here.
