LDA Parent Conference
Please join us for a FREE virtual parent conference, taking place on Wednesday, May 29th 2024 from 6:00-8:00 PM.
This conference is brought to you by the Learning Disabilities Associations of: York-Simcoe, Ottawa-Carlton, Sudbury, Niagara, Wellington County, Kingston, Windsor-Essex, Toronto and Durham, in partnership with the Center for Diverse Learners in Halton-Hamilton and the Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario.
The event will open with a keynote speaker, followed by your choice of three breakout sessions (see topics and speakers below). We hope you will join us!
1.”Building Harmony: Your Guide to Ending ADHD Chaos in Your Family” presented by Lara Dawn
Are you feeling overwhelmed by the emotional roller coaster and chaos of ADHD? You are not alone, and it is not your fault. In this presentation, you will learn how to leverage the latest neuroscience and parenting research to bring harmony back into your home life. You will gain tools so that you can support your child to improve their behavior, emotional regulation, and executive functioning skills.
2. “Bright Beginnings” Creating an Education Savings Plan for Your Family” presented by Angelina Kasunich
Key trends in post-secondary education costs, education funding options and saving strategies, government incentives and withdrawal options and tips on how parents can help their kids build their financial knowledge. She will only offer a brief overview of the DTC and how to apply, and the DSP once approved.
3. “Parent Advocacy: How to Get Your Child’s School to Listen” presented by Rebecca Graves
Are you ready to advocate effectively for your child’s education? As parents, you play a crucial role in advocating for your child’s educational needs, especially if your child has a learning disability. This empowering presentation by Rebecca Greaves will equip you with practical strategies for effectively communicating with your child’s school and ensuring that your voice is heard.
